Change We Desire To See

When the queen of Sheba went to visit King Solomon, she had heard a lot about his wisdom and wealth, and so she decided that she had to go and see for herself is all was true. After her encounter with king Solomon, she says in 2Chronicles 9:5-6 “The report I heard in my own country about your achievements and your wisdom is true. But I did not believe what they said until I came and saw with my own eyes. Indeed not even half the greatness of your wisdom was told me; you have far exceeded the report I heard.” She had been told a lot about Solomon, and as we humans say “seeing is believing” she had to see if what she was told was true or not. Alas! the report she heard, surpassed everything that she saw, when she met the King face to face.

Many a times we have heard stories of people around the world who have done great things, world changing ideas and projects and when we read about them, we normally go “on wow, thats incredible, how did they think of that?” At times you would want to meet this person, so that you can say hi to them, because you’ve termed them as your ‘hero.’ Well we can’t all be innovators or create apps that can be used by all around the world, but we can certainly be ‘world changers’ if we want to. How can we do this? it can be the smallest of things you will do, like being a blessing to someone on the street or volunteering in a homeless shelter. Giving to the needy, giving back to the society, it doesn’t have to be money, it can be your time, your resourceful mind to bring ideas and so much more. You might just be one person, but you can bring change to the community, you just have to start.

Doesn’t matter what age you are, what matters is the vision and the change that you want to see in the world. Proverbs 22:6 “Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” If we call taught our children how to take care of the environment, if we all taught them from an early age how to treat others, and the ways of God, wouldn’t our world be a better place to live in?

Let us all take up the words of King Solomon, by teaching our children from an early age, so that when they grow up, they will not depart from it. If all your children see is violence in the house, what will they become? If all you ever discuss at home is how you hate a certain tribe, will they not grow up hating the same tribe? If all your child ever see’s in the house, is pornography and music videos of women who are half naked, will they not want to explore? Parents it all starts with us, in our homes, and what we teach our children, the language we use in our homes. Don’t preach wine and expect you will get water, no! absolutely not, what you sow in your children is what you will reap!

Change starts with me, change starts with you! Be the change you so desire to see in this world!
Blessings
